Description
wenn ich muss, dann muss ich halt examines how social norms make female* urination more difficult. The body is expected not only to function but also to present itself appropriately in public spaces. Often, rituals surrounding toilet use follow social conventions more than practicality. In an attempt to address the challenges women* face when using public toilets, more and more designs for unisex or female* urinals are emerging. These aim to reduce long waiting times and the inadequate hygiene standards of conventional seated toilets. However, these approaches have yet to gain widespread acceptance.
To promote social acceptance, two approaches are being pursued:
Die Bessere Hose optimizes zipper openings for standing and squatting urinals, while Potty Training! familiarises girls with standing urination at an early age, boosting their confidence to break existing norms.
