waiting for the bus
eine Intervention an Ersatzbushaltestellen
Description
‘waiting for the bus’ transforms the space of a temporary bus stop — often characterised by anonymity, makeshift design, and a lack of quality — into a distinctive waiting environment. Although waiting is a constant part of our daily lives and the surroundings strongly influence our well-being, waiting areas in public spaces receive little design attention.
The three steel tube elements are inspired by structures in public spaces where people enjoy lingering and thus function as an extension of the bus stop.
Depending on space requirements, the modules can be flexibly arranged. The steel tube structures can easily be detached from the base plates, allowing for quick assembly and disassembly as well as space-saving transport. The project gives this temporary space its own identity and creates an inviting area that encourages people to stay.
