Description
The project "Vibrotactile Interfaces" examines to what extent tactile feedback in physical controls is able to provide the user with clues about the state of a device. By presenting information through the sense of touch, contextual awareness is increased and the need for visual monitoring is reduced. Several interaction scenarios were developed and then prototyped within the framework of six hybrid interface archetypes. These best practice examples provide haptic design principles and highlight challenges and opportunities encountered in the development of tactile user interface elements.
