Description
“VERITUM” – from the Latin for “to fear” or “to revere” – addresses societal inequality through two contrasts: the historically marginalized people with disabilities and the revered aristocratic elite. At the center is inclusion as a counter-concept to existing power structures. It describes the right of all people to equal participation in society.
In gemology, “inclusion” refers to the enclosure of foreign bodies. Applied to society, this term points to how people with disabilities are still perceived. The formal language of crown jewels serves as the design basis for the project. Gemstones cast from porcelain in standardized and deviating cuts were treated equally, set, and processed into jewelry.
The different facets symbolize the diversity of our society. For neither norms nor external characteristics determine the value of a human being – we are all jewels.
