Description

"Velocity" improves bicycle transport on S-Bahn trains to promote the switch to sustainable mobility through the attractive combination of bicycle and train. A bicycle compartment where the layout has been optimised with separate entrance and exit doors enables efficient parallel loading and unloading of bicycles despite fast train cycles and short stopping times. Clearly defined floor zones and routing ensure smooth operations, even in peak rush-hour traffic. A functional wall made of flexible and soft elements meets the dynamic requirements of commuter train operations and enables orderly and space-saving parking as well as active manoeuvring of the bicycles. Bolted connections and the use of bio-foam allows the materials to be separated and recycled individually. The prototype was realised with the help of polyurethane.
