“Apollo” is a holistic concept, that explores and creates community spaces and community dreams in public. The core of the concept is a frame which enables residents and local users to design urban spaces together. It consists of a modular frame, which can be assembled temporarily in an urban public space. The tubular steel construction, metaphorically reminiscent of a lunar module, offers possibilities for various uses: a stage, workshop space, or urban furniture. The frame can be built by local non-profit associations or urban planning and serves as an anchor point for participatory design and investigation. Apollo is a place for wishes and ideas, but also for criticism of the design of the local urban space. The concept was developed during a collaborative design process in the context of my bachelor thesis. “Urbane Gemeinschafts(t)räume”. I aim to contribute to the field of alternative urban design with the participative aspect of the thesis.
