Description

“UpLift” is a hybrid system that combines the use of solar and wind energy in a sensible way and, by placing it on flat roofs, makes it possible to generate energy in urban areas in a renewable way that is both efficient and sustainable. The solar modules can be individually oriented according to the location and the characteristic vertical hybrid rotor is optimised for high yields in varying wind conditions. A module with a floor space of four square metres can generate approximately 1,000 kWh of electricity in year-round operation by combining wind and solar energy and partially compensate for grid fluctuations. In Berlin, about 18 percent of the capital's energy needs could be produced on ten percent of the available roof surface. The visibility of the modules would also increase the citizens’ acceptance of further expansion and encourage them to actively participate in the energy transition.
