Description
In order to make cities more resistant to climate change, my project „Tropfen auf den heißen Stein“ aims to prevent heat islands and the consequences of heavy rain using the sponge city principle. The microclimate in cities is to be improved, and areas that have rarely been used are to be activated: facades. Rainwater is retained and, at high temperatures, directed over water-absorbent bricks. These absorb it and cool the surrounding area by evaporation. These brick walls could be retrofitted to existing buildings in highly congested and sealed areas. Rainwater retention would relieve the burden on the municipal sewer system and at the same time make use of precious rainwater.
