Description
Misuse tries to find alternative ways of designing, producing and consuming new products. It criticises the industry, which follows trends and increasingly generates throwaway furniture, but also the often lacking appreciation of products, resources and thus also the environment. Misuse offers open-source building instructions for objects for the private context, which consist of semi-finished and finished products or products already provided by the industry and can be purchased at a reasonable cost in the hardware store. The Misuse objects can then be assembled by oneself with the help of the instructions and without prior professional knowledge or professional tools. In this way, Misuse objects start in the distribution of the conventional material cycle of products and create new products through misuse. Making them oneself increases appreciation and thus makes thoughtful and functional objects democratically available.
