Description
‘Tears’ is a photographic work that explores the meaning and reasons behind tears. This work sharpens the viewer’s perspective on the subject.
In addition to various causes of tears, the focus is primarily on the expressions of people crying. Each person portrayed was given the opportunity to talk about situations that touched or burdened them emotionally. They shared their tears in this intimate session, whether produced artificially or caused by their own emotional weight. Some found it easy to cry, while others struggled.
The reasons for crying are not apparent in the images — instead, the depicted tears and facial expressions tell their stories.
The typographic part of the book presents answers from crying individuals, but not their faces. For this purpose, a survey was conducted. Some of the responses are included in the book, offering a small differentiation of the topic: how and why people cry.
