Description

TESSI is a smoke-free, cost-effective solution tackling India’s heavy reliance on solid fuels for cooking and heating water, which contributed to the 1.6 million pollution-related deaths in 2019. Using thermal elements, it heats 55 kg of sand to 300°C, storing 2.6 kW of renewable energy to heat 30 liters of water per charge. Its vacuum insulation retains heat overnight, enabling clean cooking and decentralized energy storage even in times of power outage. TESSI supports the national grid by storing excess renewable energy during peak production times and supplying it when demand spikes, reducing energy wastage and stabilizing supply. Designed to be exceptionally affordable, eco-friendly, durable and easily reparable, TESSI works to eliminate firewood dependency, freeing time for education and supporting economic growth.
