Supa Sauna

Description

The Supa Sauna is a mobile public retreat in urban space that promotes relaxation, community and social exchange. It was created as part of a competition by the Federal Foundation for Building Culture on the car-free city of the future and raises the question: what to do with parking spaces? At changing locations in Berlin, the Supa Sauna invites people to rethink public space.
Public baths have historically played — and continue to play — a central role in cities as places of hygiene, social interaction and participation. The Supa Sauna continues this tradition, creating a low-threshold, inclusive platform for different population groups. The project combines research on public space, ownership and social interaction with a concrete, sensory experience of community and urban space.
