Description

It is a Midi controller with an attached silicone element, which gives the user the possibility to express himself in an unusually deep way and this even on the move.

What is the Topic?

In my bachelor thesis, I focus on the use of musically inspiring hardware and develop an innovative, haptic and virtuosic input method for preferably digital music productions.

Why does it look like this?

In the beginning I was very much focused on the traditional dark "Music Studio Gear" design, which is a common theme in the music industry. But later I decided against a dark design concept. The opposite coloring and somewhat timeless minimalistic design also sketches that I wanted to break out of the conventional range of midi controllers with this controller.

What is special?

It is a conceptual and completely new input method for modulating sound. Due to its flexibility, it can be used experimentally in all areas of music and audio.

What is new?

A kind of fin contains three sensors which react to bending and vibrations. The sensors are inserted into the silicone material allowing the user to experiment with various 3D shapes to explore their auditory characteristics.
