Description

Life, both on a small and large scale, has consequences. Recent observations of human activity on this planet, particularly in Western industrial nations, urge a rethinking of how we handle everyday objects. Packaging ends up in nature directly or indirectly; products break because they are poorly made or are placed on the market with planned obsolescence. Fashionable norms render fully functional products obsolete.
The aim of the project was to examine the connections and the path from systemic paradigms to concrete and effective design solutions. Possible levers for environmentally conscious product design were developed, which are currently both ecologically sensible and accepted by users. The insights are then applied in a practical design of a suitcase in order to test how environmentally conscious design principles affect the design of a product when applied consistently.
