YOM

Description

YOM is a speculative design project that critically examines the impact of individualisation on the future of food culture. At its centre is the personalising machine ‘YOM’, which uses collected data to create individual nutrient combinations.
The project questions whether the growing trend towards personalisation displaces the social and cultural significance of shared meals. The machine operates under the motto ‘You are what you eat’ and illustrates the fusion of technology and human needs.
This is visually supported by a typo tool that expresses personalisation through individually adapted typefaces. The packaging design reflects the diversity of needs.
Through its futuristic food design, YOM questions the boundaries between naturalness and technology and encourages reflection on the societal effects of individualisation in everyday nutrition.
