SteadyGo
Adaptive Mobility Aid for the Progressive Stages of Parkinson‘s Disease
Description
This master thesis introduces SteadyGo, a modular mobility aid designed to adapt to the five progressive stages of Parkinson’s disease. Motivated by personal experience, the project addresses the evolving motor challenges patients face—from initial tremors to advanced immobility. SteadyGo transforms from a walking stick into a crutch, rollator, and wheelchair using interchangeable parts, maintaining consistent usability and design throughout. This familiar, ergonomic system supports independence, reduces stigma, and eases emotional transitions. By extending usability across all stages, it also minimizes material waste and promotes sustainable design. SteadyGo aims to demonstrate how empathetic product design can enhance quality of life and offer meaningful support for individuals living with neurodegenerative conditions.
