Description
The Solar Bag for Eritrea project is there to give people in Eritrea, whether in urban or rural areas, the opportunity to at least partially bridge the inadequate electrical infrastructure.
My approach is to produce the solar backpack locally from local sustainable material called raffia, which is extracted from the doum palm, to shorten logistics routes and celebrate the traditional product culture made from the same material.
In addition, the proceeds from a serial production of the solar bags are to be used to support reforestation in Eritrea, which poses a major erosion problem due to deforestation for firewood, overgrazing and torrential rains, which causes serious consequences such as famine and migration.
