Inclusive Design to Combat Defensive Architecture Through Upcycling
Description
The Soft Hacking project presents two pop-up interventions: modular seat cushions with a coin deposit system and chairs on the wall. By upcycling discarded objects, a forbidding architecture is transformed into inviting, soft spaces. The aim is to encourage people to spend time in public spaces in a pleasant and inspiring way. By removing defensive elements, a collective awareness is created that emphasises: ‘We are still welcome in the city’.
