Description

The diploma thesis is the result of a participatory survey at the Kunsthochschule Kassel. Motivated by the attitude of making access to this institution more visible and questioning what, who and where the art academy is. The assumption of the discussion is that it is not something that can be described and that exists “outside” of people or actions, but that it only arises where different things come together: animate and inanimate. The art academy is an activity, a performative realisation, an action, an intersection of many things that are not constant and are constantly reconfiguring and permeating each other. It is the clash between the study regulations and the individual examination, the help of the caretaker, the lingering in the workroom, the anticipation of crisps in the canteen queue, the chat with the administrative staff – the stumbling; the getting up and being together. The work is a snapshot of that.
