Urban Sails

Description

In the face of the global energy crisis, adaptable energy systems such as small wind turbines are crucial. ‘Urban Sails’ transforms urban wind energy with decentralised turbines and offers a new urban aesthetic. Until now, concerns about noise, aesthetics and ecology have made acceptance difficult. By using large textile sails, this design departs from the technical standard and presents a human-centred technology that blends into the urban landscape. This design approach is intended to complement larger wind turbines in confined urban spaces, promote social acceptance of wind technology and reclassify it as a cultural asset.
