Description
SIYA / TUYA (chair/yours in Spanish) is a two-part furniture intervention into public and private spaces that aims to create participative design processes, considering the historical relationship (physical and symbolic) between people and plastic furniture.
SIYA is a chair for the PUBLIC space meant to be moved and used freely throughout the city. The goal is to observe and study its movement and behavior, via UWB-tracking device, to create new approaches to urbanism and public design.
TUYA is a chair frame meant to be completed by INDIVIDUALS in need of furniture that apply via regional government program. The User has 6 months to complete the chair with the materials and tools of their choice, thus projecting their individual aesthetics and ideals, while creating a unique version of the product. After that, results are documented and the user can keep their specimen, resulting in an effective and democratic way to provide social furniture to the masses.
