Description

Current anthropological findings dispel misconceptions about human beings, our evolutionary fundamentals, and the natural relationship between the sexes. My project makes this information visible and tangible: systematic injustices have only been widespread for around 5,000 years. Our species, however, has existed for 2 million years. My information design transfers this dimension to a calendar year with 365 days. Thus, social inequality has only existed for less than a day. In my daily calendar, informational texts and illustrations on 364 days tell of the egalitarian life of early humans. The calendar is an approximately 55-meter-long, printed fabric panel in a mechanical installation. Every 15 cm, one day in the calendar year and around 5,500 years of human history pass. With a crank, you scroll through this analog time machine. An accompanying leporello about the final day explains what changed coexistence over the past 5,000 years.
