An Exploration of Aesthetic Experience in Everyday Life
Description
This experimental thesis explores aesthetic experiences in everyday objects and surroundings. Traditionally, aesthetics focus on idealized fragments of life, but this study broadens appreciation to include natural and commonplace aspects. Targeting women aged 20-30, the research examines their preferences and aversions to stimulate reflection on their ideals and environment, focusing on emotions, meanings, ideas, and appearances. A key element is the inquiry into beauty, sublimity, and consciousness. The thesis introduces ‘SABI CUBES’, hand-crafted, stackable cubes inspired by nature, combining structured geometry with familiar, unpredictable elements. These cubes encourage users to explore the interplay between order and chaos, transforming familiarity into novelty. They serve as a catalyst for dialogue about aesthetics and the connection to nature, promoting reflection and encounters with aesthetic phenomena in unexpected places. The aim is to disrupt routine and foster thoughtfulness.
