Rugged Terrain
Trailbau im Spannungsfeld von Natur, Kultur und Bewegung
Description
Mountain bike trails emerge where people create movement, share culture, and preserve nature. But how can tools, materials, and equipment be transported efficiently to remote construction sites in the forest? Where rooted passages, muddy paths, and dense undergrowth begin, the reach of conventional transport vehicles ends.
From these practical requirements, a tool was developed that combines the mobility of an MTB trailer with the versatility of a wheelbarrow — modular, robust, and lightweight. The bolted construction allows for repairs, adjustments, and ensures long-lasting, resource-conserving use. An integrated damper provides control on rough terrain, and numerous fastening points secure even bulky loads.
Developed in dialogue with trail builders, the project honours their work — and demonstrates how design can foster responsibility, community, and a connection to nature.
