Reclaiming Matter presents an alternative approach for dealing with industrial residual materials. Carbokalk (carbochemical lime) from the sugar industry and rock flour from natural stone quarrying are reinterpreted as independent resources and transformed into a locally producible building material. The work conceives these by-products not merely as material, but as a starting point for a new form of regional value creation.

A central element is the principle of industrial symbiosis: the targeted cooperation of neighboring companies makes it possible to link material flows and existing infrastructure with one another and to meaningfully reuse by-products that have hitherto remained largely unutilized. Due to the spatial proximity of raw material source, processing, and utilization, synergies arise that reduce environmental burdens, strengthen local economic cycles, and open up new social as well as cultural scopes for action.
