PURE - Pedestrian Urgent Rescue Equipment

Urban violence is a global reality, including across Europe. How resilient, supportive and courageous a society responds often depends on the first few moments before emergency services arrive. PURE takes this responsibility as its starting point and explores how design can empower people to act in critical situations.

The project combines a medical emergency device with an intuitive step-by-step guide. A newly designed pressure bandage and packaging system help untrained bystanders respond confidently in situations where stress, fear and uncertainty would otherwise lead to hesitation or paralysis.

Developed through expert interviews with paramedics, emergency physicians and police officers, alongside iterative user testing with non-professionals, PURE demonstrates how design can lower barriers to action and strengthen everyday civic courage.
