Description

Avera is a social wearable designed to address loneliness during periods of social transition. It focuses on mothers as representatives of a life stage often characterised by change and the loss of established social connections. The concept aims to lower the barrier to meeting new people and foster meaningful resonance through shared interests. Three vibration actuators accompany these encounters with specially developed haptic signals that positively influence the experience. Without relying on comparison or matching mechanisms, Avera creates space for natural and effortless interactions. The development is based on research into loneliness, Hartmut Rosa’s theory of resonance and findings from the field of affective haptics. Combining soft silicone with premium stainless steel, the design balances comfort with a refined aesthetic and integrates seamlessly into everyday life.
