Puma has rejoined basketball after nearly 20 years of absence. Since the end of 2018, Puma has launched the first basketball shoes on the market after the long break. Currently, Puma does not and has not done any accessories relating to basketball however with the new traction of the brand we foresee a possibility to make this as additional business moving forward. "Archive", "Street" and "Pro": A concept (backpack and cap) was designed for each category.
Why does it look like this?
"Archive": Products from the category were created for the basketball fans who are mainly interested in the historical background of basketball. The backpack has features of retro lifestyle products such as large side pockets, colored metal eyelets as well as silicone badges and nostalgic color blocking. The main compartment offers plenty of space for shoes and ball and the front and side pockets allow the user to pack things better organized. 1973 is the year when Puma started playing basketball. The meaningful year on the front of the cap represents the history of the brand. With the use of piping and contrasting eyelets, the cap gets even more retro taste. "Street": The result of the research shows that the backpacks with rolled and folded openings have a strong street style. Based on this shape, the ball holder was developed to make it easier to take balls with you. The big main compartment gives you enough storage space for the shoes, clothes and other stuff. A water bottle can be put in the left side pocket. The top- and front pocket provide additional spaces as well. Due to the vertical zipper on the back, you have an easy access to the inner laptop compartment. The full mesh back panel enhances the breathability. The "street style" of the cap appears through the reflective "Puma Basketball" badge on the front as well as the embroidered graphics on the side walls and two-tone adjustable buckle. "Pro": This Puma Hoops Pro Backpack is organized, compact and satisfy the needs of a player. The shoe compartment on the right side is made for any shoe size and the left side could be used for water bottle. The main compartment and the front pocket provide plenty of storage space, however, small items could be stowed in the upper pocket. The vertical zipper on the side gives easy access to the inner laptop compartment. The back panel and the upper part of the shoulder straps are equipped with EVA padding to increase the air circulation and comfort. To avoid dirt and moisture in the changing room, the backpack can be hung with the hook on the back. On the front panel of the cap is the Puma basketball branding and on the back panel is the Puma cat in the same material. Due to the integration of the mesh, the cap keeps the head cool. The use of two different materials (polyester and mesh) and the laser cut eyelets make the cap look more sporty.
What is special?
"Archive": A modernization of the past. "Street": The backpack can be used for sports as well as in everyday life. "Pro": The backpack offers organized compartments for the essential needs of a pro player. As a pro player, you are also often on the road and the laptop compartment should not be missing in this case. The opening from the main compartment and the laptop compartment are each equipped with the waterproof zipper, so that the moisture can not penetrate into the backpack. A material combination of mesh and EVA-foam is utilised for the back and shoulder area. On the one hand you get increased comfort and on the other hand, a better air circulation is thereby generated. Outer storage spaces or pockets should be avoided as far as possible, so that the backpack remains compact and fits easily in the luggage racks of the public transport.
What is new?
"Street": As a streetball player, you always have a basketball with you so you are always ready for the court. The focus for this street backpack is on the ball catcher and it is ready for use as needed. When you do not need it, you can simply stow it in the bottom compartment ans use the backpack for the urban purpose. The material for the ball catcher consists of webbing and elastic straps and is equipped with two buckles at the end. The adjustable straps make it possible to carry different size of balls. "Pro": Due to the storage system, the backpack is specifically tailored to the needs of the player. The compartments offers plenty of space for shoes up to size 50 and a water bottle with 1.5 liters or more.
