People with paraplegia encounter numerous barriers when accessing the sea and surfing. The path across the beach presents many adaptive surfers with challenges. Person and surfboard often have to be transported separately, while adaptable aids are frequently lacking or can only be adapted to different needs to a limited extent. Proneboard is a modular surfboard system for the rehabilitation and surf school context that addresses this exact issue. It combines a stable softboard with adjustable handle and support elements as well as a transport aid. The design is based on real needs. It supports both independent and assisted usage scenarios and allows for quick adjustment without tools. In this way, Proneboard creates accessibility, safety, and participation in water sports.
