OMALAMPEN
-Wie wir uns erinnern und Erinnerungen weiter geben
Description
In ‘Omalampen’, light and voice merge into a multi-layered archive of memory. Discarded lamps from online classifieds and bulky waste become carriers of personal stories.
Equipped with speakers and custom-developed programming, they illuminate not only physically but also narratively: one lamp becomes active and tells a story before the next takes over — a flowing dialogue of light and sound, between intimacy and public space.
The focus lies on honouring the often overlooked life stories of grandmothers, whose experiences and memories have frequently received less attention in historical narratives than those of men.
The voices of elderly women fill the space, while the gentle pulsation of the lamps visually accompanies their stories. This creates an intimate yet overarching reflection on transience, family memory, emotional connections, and collective memory.
