Description

Billions of water bottles can be found among the eight million tons of plastic waste that end up in the ocean annually. For many countries, Germany included, this represents an avoidable amount of packaging waste. Unfortunately, tap water, the best alternative, is viewed critically by many people. Doubts about its quality can often lead people to opt for bottled water. Good design is needed to address these uncertainties. It can serve as an effective means to change perception because the best way to tackle plastic waste is by not producing it in the first place. The design solution to this problem is an innovative faucet. Itsappearance and operation alone intuitively conveys to users that it provides drinking water. The quality is also guaranteed. A measuring unit regularly checks the key water parameters and displays the results at a glance when the tap is opened.
