My Home, My Data
Eine App, die Bürger:innen befähigt, aktiv über die Freigabe ihrer Smart-Home-IoT-Daten zu entscheiden
Description
In the tension between increasing digitalisation in living spaces and growing concerns about data protection, the project poses the question: How can citizens regain control over their smart home data? The design of an app addresses this issue directly. It enables users to consciously and actively control the sharing of their IoT data – not automatically, but based on informed consent.
In addition to transparency about who receives which data, the app allows for individual configuration of data sharing and thus makes data flows visible. For voluntary data sharing, users receive points that they can redeem or donate to local sustainability projects.
The project was developed in cooperation with Fraunhofer ISST and is based on current research on data spaces. It was iteratively developed through a user-centred design process, visual benchmark analyses, and design feedback.
