Description

Cities are constantly evolving, facing issues such as climate change, air pollution, and urbanization. One solution is to ban cars from city centers, reviving pedestrian zones and public spaces. The “MIKADO” modular space concept transforms unused areas into attractive, flexible urban spaces that prioritise residents' needs. The system focuses on shading public spaces to reduce heat with fragmented sunshades creating semi-shaded areas, complemented by seating areas, standing tables, and planters for dynamic use. The modular structure enables customization, making it suitable for large public squares, individual parking spaces, and closed-off streets. MIKADO offers a sustainable approach to revitalising public spaces, promoting community engagement and combating climate change.
