Description
Why do we keep things that have no measurable benefit? Because meaning often arises beyond function and material value. Objects that accompany us in the long term become material repositories for relationships, memories, and recurring actions.
Based on an open archive of different object biographies, the work examines this everyday form of meaning production. In a process of gradual deconstruction, the original forms are systematically dismantled and deprived of their functional as well as symbolic typologies. This design transformation translates unconscious everyday gestures into new, abstract offers of form.
The result comprises physical objects. As liminal artifacts, they elude any clear attribution – their meaning only reveals itself in the in-between of interaction. Design here becomes a practice of making visible: meaning arises in the fulfillment of the relationship between human and thing.
