Description

The project material kin represents an experimental material study in the field of textile finishing. It aims to find new ways for the textile industry by using cellulosic liquids on cellulosic fabrics. In future used fabrics will become an important source of pulp that will help conserving forests and crop areas. But textile finishing processes can complicate a future recycling. By exploring the use of cellulosic liquids in processes like textile printing and coating, it is possible to maintain material purity. All the textile samples have been printed, coated or glued with this liquid. They show very different properties but are still composites within the same material family. At the end of their cycle textiles that got processed this way could be dissolved and be used to spin new fibers.
