Unpaid care work, pension security, and the risk of old-age poverty are closely interconnected, yet this link is scarcely taken into account in the German pension system. Using interactive workshop materials, this invisible care work is brought into focus. Participants reflect on their own biographies in relation to care work, experience the effects of employment, family, and unpaid care work on retirement provision through a ‘life game’, and jointly discuss fairer models for the future. The toolkit combines awareness-raising, playful knowledge transfer, and critical reflection. It creates an emotional access point to the complex issue of pensions. The aim is to inform and to make both individual and collective scopes for action visible — for fair pension security, genuine equality, and a broad social debate about the value of unpaid care work.
