Description

My bachelor thesis was created during a three-month stay at the Hope Schools in East London, South Africa, a school that is financed exclusively through donations and was originally founded for children affected by HIV and AIDS. Together with the children, I developed art and photography projects that gave them space for expression and self-representation.

This resulted in two books: “Personal Insights”, a documentary book about my personal experiences on site, as well as “Unseen Stories”, which shows the everyday life of the children through their own photographs. The aim of the work is to create emotional proximity, understanding and awareness for the Hope Schools through design.
