Description
KUMO is a modular lighting system that combines technical precision with a soft, flowing appearance. It forms compositions that grow from small to larger spatial arrangements and expand into different angles and directions. Based on two basic modules – a straight and a semi-circular module.
An aluminum frame made of round rods and CNC-milled end plates integrates magnets and pogo pins. These enable an electronic connection between the modules. LED strips run through the system and provide continuous 360-degree light. A custom-made silicone diffuser around the LED scatters and reflects the light, and a specially developed, machine-knitted outer shell made of thin sewing thread creates a nostalgic effect that highlights the aluminum construction.
KUMO moves between structure and atmosphere. It shows new ways to use light and decorative character in spaces, and above all, lifeless wall surfaces.
