Description
Knock Three Times examines how superstition and everyday rituals can be translated into a visual language. The starting point of the project is the question of how immaterial ideas can be made visible and designed. This resulted in two complementary visual worlds: black-and-white photographic collages that convey the logic and rules of individual customs as “instructions,” as well as color atmospheric photographs that make their emotional and magical dimension tangible.
In addition to the photographic work, the project also includes the design of an exhibition space, a folding poster as a catalog, and a questionnaire for the active involvement of the audience. The serially hung black-and-white works emphasize the rule-based character of the rituals, while color photographs of different formats condense the space. This creates a design system that connects cultural practices, spatial staging, and audience interaction with one another.
