Located near Hamburg Central Station, the Werkhaus Münzviertel offers a retreat and space for artistic processes in the workshops for wood, gardening, sound, cooking, textiles, and bicycles — for young people who are homeless or living in other precarious situations.
The kiosk was designed to carry their ideas and concerns into urban space. Flexible in its function — as an information stand, micro-exhibition, sales booth, mini-workshop, or soup kitchen — it serves as a platform for collaboratively developed content and formats, as well as for individual forms of expression.
In the first project phase, lollipops were made using ingredients from the ‘Münzgarten’, screen prints were sold, and later a banner and gingerbread with subversive slogans were created to draw attention to the ongoing housing crisis during demonstrations such as Christmas markets. As an ongoing project, the kiosk creates visibility and encounters as a tool.
