The portrayal of beauty ideals, especially female beauty ideals, in marketing is a topic of growing importance and discussion in today’s society. The widespread use of social media often creates the impression that it is possible for everyone to achieve a perfect beauty ideal — whether through the use of cosmetics, cosmetic or surgical procedures, or the use of filters.
Therefore, it is important to examine which factors have shaped these beauty ideals, where their origins lie, why they are desirable for many, and how they have evolved over time.
The aim of this thesis is to analyse which historical and current factors have influenced and continue to influence the ideal of female beauty in marketing.
A deeper understanding of the complex topic of women’s beauty ideals in marketing in today’s society is to be developed.
