The photo book tells the story of my childhood – of the contradictions that shaped it: closeness and distance, security and loss, love and emptiness. The images show tender, almost dreamlike moments, but also direct and uncomfortable situations. Without many words, they offer a glimpse of what was there – and what was missing. My mother, who gave everything. A father who was never really present.

At the same time, the accompanying texts tell my mother’s story: a life in a violent and unhappy marriage. Her silence, because there was no language for her suffering. A time when it was not socially accepted to talk about it, seek help, or set boundaries.

The book also directs its gaze toward the present, where the traces of this past continue to have an impact today. For a long time, men represented disappointment, absence, and insecurity for me. But a one-sided form of love is gradually transforming into something mutual – through R
