Infused Earth
Practice-Based Research on 3D Printing with Earth
Description
For thousands of years, people have been designing with the natural material clay. It is durable, can be transformed and returned to the soil without leaving any residue. In this research project, the possibilities of working with clay were expanded through digital fabrication by means of 3D printing, giving the clay an unprecedented freedom of form. Attitudes, processes and properties are being researched; the bio-receptive clay is being used in urban spaces. The printed elements provide a habitat for countless organisms.
