Experimenting with Duality Within Ceramics
Description
The two iconic elements that are mostly thought of during the thousand years of ceramic creation are the ceramic bodies and the glaze: after glazing, the glaze adheres evenly to the surface of the ceramic, and after firing, this relationship between inside and outside is eternally solidified. Is there a possibility that the two parts interact with each other in the kiln, leading to unexpected results? Does the material have the potential to shape itself? A series of experiments were conducted in this project. Different physical and chemical composition as well as digital technology were experimented here to explore and question the duality inside the ceramics.
