Description

As part of her bachelor’s thesis, Laura Pietsch developed the corporate design for the fictitious bouldering hall “GREIFBAR”: A holistic concept that connects bouldering hall and bar as a place for movement and exchange. The starting point is “gripping” as the central movement of bouldering, as well as a symbol for accessibility and the courage to reach for new things. This resulted in a flexible system with a wordmark and figurative mark, color concept, posters, pictograms, and much more. The typography translates the movement sequences of bouldering: The characters grip, stretch, and move. A variable grid, inspired by screw holes and route setting, enables versatile layouts. The concept is complemented by dynamic photographs that fragment, overlap, and make movement visible. This creates a design concept that goes beyond aesthetics to understand movement as a social process, strengthen community, promote accessibility, and make sport visible as a socially relevant space.
