Description

Getting Closer is a multidisciplinary exploration of collective intelligence as a concept of transcending species boundaries.
The world is a network of interconnected actors forming an intelligent system to sustain life on Earth. While the construct of intelligence is traditionally linked to human identity, this understanding has led to a separation from those systems. With the rise of AI challenging this perception, Getting Closer is asking how technologies can become an interface to a more-than-human world, offering us insights into the complex networks of life, expanding our perceptions and creating opportunities for interspecies collaboration.
To cultivate this practice of care, the project is embodied in an object, integrating AI, contextualized by environmental sensors enabling a dialogue among more-than-human actors. Consisting of eroding clay, contrasting the aluminium electronic casing, the materiality becomes part of a continuous interaction with the environment.
