Description

It is a tool, a challenge and an opportunity - It is a technical extension of our human body and a challenge to break the human condition. The concept is based on two main components. Primarily an implant, which is surgically inserted under the skin and secondarily a sensor unit, which sticks to the implant above the skin. Through an infrared measurement, tactile stimulations are experienced via the implant.

What is the Topic?

Throughout history, inorganic prostheses have appeared as imitations of human organs. With this prosthesis, the individual is again cosmetically and productively integrated into society and brought closer to the social norm. Technical and medical milestones raise the question of why we only replace lost organs when we could expand our body, our abilities and even our perception. This thesis explores the cyborgization of the human being and sketches a concept for a possible expansion of spatial perception.

Why does it look like this?

The form follows the existing technologies and includes the user and his handling with this object.

What is special?

The thoughts of the cybernetic body are not new. We experience our environment through our biological senses. Insects perceive the world differently. We also equip industrial robots with technology that can outperform the human body. But why don't we use these technologies? How does it feel to sharpen, expand or manipulate our own perception? My concept gives an impression of the possibilities that are still waiting to be discovered.
