Description

Consumer, throwaway and affluent societies can be understood as terms that address the challenges of the present. Products are replaced faster and faster – yet many consist of durable materials. In the process, the relationship to the products is weakened. Ephemeral product design and the integration of transience in the design process can be understood as potential here. The work invites us to question notions of durability, quality and value.

The deodorant is geared towards complete consumption, primarily packaged in durable materials and consumption is rising. The design consists of natural rubber and a konjac root sponge – the materials age naturally, promote resonance and can be disposed of separately. The coffee table and the lamp are further application examples. Made from strawboard, they enable natural aging and the ability to tell the story of their own use.
