Description

As public places, museums should be designed in the interests of “everyone” and be as accessible as possible. However, if you look at current visitor numbers, it is clear that they are only visited by a small proportion of the population, most of whom belong to the so-called educated middle classes. Accessibility is already being negotiated outside the museum. This is the initial question of the installation in front of the Forum Wissen, the science museum of the University of Göttingen. The intention is to bring the concepts of the Forum Wissen into the public space and to arouse interest. The installation consists of five objects based on a red steel frame. The surface made of wooden planks offers opportunities to linger, lean and stop. A red ribbon with different questions on it connects the objects. The installation is complemented by a participatory mailbox station where visitors can ask their own questions to science.
