Our mobile phones have evolved from simple means of communication into multifunctional devices that combine numerous applications and services (von Sydow & Börner, 2018). With advancing digitalization, expectations for efficiency and functionality are rising. At the same time, more and more studies point to challenges associated with intensive smartphone use. Therefore, researchers are calling for intervention approaches to counteract these developments.
This bachelor thesis addresses the topic from a design perspective. Based on a literature review, the analysis of design principles, and the investigation of usage patterns, a concept for a digital intervention system is developed. The aim is to create a methodical basis that not only reduces symptoms but also addresses the design and structural mechanisms that influence behavior in digital space.
